Reverse your indoor ceiling fans for summer and winter operations as recommended.

Wow! This is completely new to me. I had no idea that fans could even switch directions.  It makes me wonder how you know which way to switch them.

Here is what I found.  According to consumer reports, when it is warm the fan should run so that breeze blow downward.  This is because it a wind-chill effect similar to rolling down a window. For warmer air movement, go in the opposite direction upward. This will fan will mix the air from the ceiling and moves it to the perimeter. This creates a high average room temperature overall, so your heat won’t kick on as often.
